Deland is known for it’s attachment to the St. Johns River, which is a vast river, spanning half the state of Florida, as it adds a lot of historical value to the experiences you’ll find in this area. Whether you’re into fishing or just cruising the river in a rental pontoon boat, you’ll want to stop by Highland Park Fish Camp and say hello. This is a great way to spend the weekend, and relax out on the water. Highland Park Fish Camp offers up a ton of bait and tackle options, as well as boat rentals for any type of trip out!
Being in business since 1962, you’ve gotta think that they are doing something right, amirite?! The absurd opportunity to catch your personal best NextFish here is absolutely ridiculous. So much water to explore, and some of the best ways to do so are to simply set time aside and explore. The problem with exploring while you’re fishing is you tend to want to stop at every good looking place and you never get to see the whole thing. I decided it would be a great idea to take a pontoon boat rental from Highland Park Fish Camp and go all the way to Blue Spring State Park with the family. Doing so would open my eyes up to a part of the river that I hadn’t experienced much, being that I was always on the northern side by Lake George, in Astor, Florida.
As you can see, as we went through from Highland Park to Blue Springs, it was absolutely gorgeous, but also infested with quality water that will hold fish. You know how I know it will all hold fish? Did you see the wildlife? The birds, the gators, the turtles?! Those are all species that will hold true to finding baitfish and other larger species such as Sunfish, Catfish, and even Largemouth Bass!
You can bet, the next time I’m out here I will have a full bag of gear ready to go for my NextFish!
Oh, I almost forgot!!!
Highland Park Fish Camp is more than just a gateway to Old Florida on the St. Johns River… They’ve got cabins for rent, an entire bait and tackle shop inside, as well as a gorgeous outdoor venue for your next event that you might have in mind!
And in the center of it all, they’ve got a KILLER stocked pond for kids and families to enjoy some quality catch and release fishing for Panfish, Catfish, and Largemouth Bass! Here’s a few shots of my family enjoying our day at Highland Park Fish Camp!
