12 Anglers. 7 Countries. $10,000 Winner-Take-All.
This January, 12 anglers from across the globe will be battling it out at the Los Buzos Resort in Cambutal, Panama! The Los Buzos International KAYAK Fishing Championship is set to take place from January 5th to the 11th, where competition will last a total of 5 days! The rules for the Los Buzos International Kayak Fishing Championship are somewhat extensive, but pretty clear and seem to be well thought-out.
5 Days of competition, where your best 3 days count towards your totals make for a challenging event, because anyone could have a stellar day followed by a crap shoot if they aren’t on their A game.
Eyes on the prize, this is a Winner-Take-All event with a grand purse of $10,000!
Jackson Kayak‘s James McBeath, reigning from Canada, told me that his keys to success are finding the best bait, working the right gear, and staying very cautious of the rocks that these heavy-hitting fish tend to get wrapped up in if they get too close. With such a variety of awesome game fish, it’s going to be very important to key in on what’s biting and make sure you’re prepared for those species.
Anglers will have the option of baiting up at the shack with dead bait or catching their own. James is very adamant about catching your own bait, and I think I would be, too, especially if that’s what the fish are feeding on at that very moment.
